Walter Mikrut, 87, of Harvard passed away on February 10, 2021, at Javon Bae Hospital, Rockford, IL.
He was born December 17, 1933, in Chicago, IL; to Stanley and Agnes (Paprocki) Mikrut. Walter served in the United States Army from 1955-1957. Walter farmed for many years, loved the outdoors, and was a skilled fisherman who passed that joy onto his family. He was a member of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge. Walter was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and helped as an usher at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Sharon, WI.
Walter married the love of his life Dolores Lenss on August 1, 1959, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. She preceded him in death after 59 years of marriage on January 8, 2019.
Survivors include his children Dan (Anne) Mikrut; Lisa (David) Burdick and Linda (Robert) Heath; five grandchildren Taylor Heath, Calvin Burdick, Natalie Burdick, and twins Caroline and Henry Mikrut; one sister Virginia (Robert) Glickenberger.
He was preceded in death by his spouse and infant daughter Theresa Mikrut.
Visitation will be 10:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2021, at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St. Harvard, IL 60033. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 206 E. Front St. Harvard, IL 60033. Interment will be St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Clinton, WI.
