Vanessa Casas

Vanessa Casas, 36, of Rockford, IL passed away unexpectedly on September 25, 2024. Vanessa was born on October 16, 1987, in El Potrero Zacatecas, Mexico, the daughter of Jose Casas and Engracia Lobatos.

Vanessa was a fun-loving jokester with an impeccable sense of humor. She was fun to be around and always able to make light of any situation. Vanessa was captivated by the night sky and enjoyed admiring the stars. More than anything, Vanessa loved her family and enjoyed her time spent with them. She was a proud mother, and she absolutely adored her children.

Vanessa is survived by her children Ivy Mercado, Laila Mercado, Jazlyn “China” Casas, and Ivan Sebastian “Bob” Yañez; her parents Jose and Engracia Casas; her siblings Maribel (Martin Morales) Casas, Baltazar Casas, Elisabet (Jesus “Chuy” Flores) Casas, Mario (Ariana Salazar) Casas, Melinda (Juan Gurrola) Casas Lobatos, Jose Noel Casas, and Ana Isabel Casas; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her dearly beloved brother Jose Antonio Casas.

Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 PM on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St., Harvard, IL 60033. Funeral service will be at 11 AM on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home. Interment to immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Harvard, IL.
