Tranquilino Jimenez Ruiz, 78, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022, at his home in Harvard, IL, surrounded by family.
Tranquilino was born to Pedro Jimenez and Cecilia (Ruiz) on July 6, 1944. He was happily married for 46 years to Geronima (Reyes), until her passing in 2015. In his early years, Tranquilino worked in the tobacco fields and kept busy in finding the next best opportunity for him and his family. He eventually started his own construction business and was a member of the bricklayers union in Ruiz, Nayarit though his mid-fifties. He enjoyed spending most of his time bonding with his family and enjoyed grilling out every chance he had. His hobbies included gardening vegetables, coming up with woodworking projects in his garage, and loved catching up with old friends who would regularly drop by his house to talk to him for hours.
Tranquilino is survived by his six children, Pedro Jimenez of Harvard, Armando (Irma) Jimenez of Harvard, Lorena (Alfredo Peña) Jimenez of Harvard, Javier Jimenez of Harvard, Sandra (Jesus Sanchez) Jimenez of Capron, and Hugo (Maria Elena) Jimenez of Harvard, brothers Jose Jimenez of Harvard, and Andres Jimenez of Ruiz, Nayarit, as well as 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Cecilia, his siblings, Trini Jimenez, Lorenza Martinez, Paula Zuniga, and his wife, Geronima.
Tranquilino was a devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. What people remember most about Tranquilino was his generous and humble nature. His family and friends will miss him endlessly.
A service is scheduled at 11am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, followed by a funeral visitation scheduled from 4pm-8pm on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, in Harvard, IL.
