Terry Cheek, 79 years old, died peacefully on May 13 at home with his wife of 55 years by his side.
Terry was born February 12, 1945, in New York. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin in 1968, he went to work for Commonwealth Edison in Dixon, where he met his future wife, Barb. They were married on June 7, 1969, at Broadway Covenant Church in Rockford. He worked 25 years for Commonwealth Edison in various engineering departments, including Dixon, Byron Nuclear Plant, Rockford, and Downers Grove. After leaving Edison, he went to work for McHenry County Sheriff’s department in Woodstock, retiring with 20 years of service.
Terry loved to build things and work with his hands. He could fix anything and was a true Jack of all trades. Over the years he was involved in many clubs and organizations and was a current member of Cornerstone Church in Harvard. He was a real animal lover, as was the whole family. There were always assorted dogs and cats included as part of the family. He loved doing fun things with his daughter as she was growing up. After many years of anticipation, he was overjoyed when Ivy Mae, his youngest granddaughter, was born. He cherished every moment he spent with her and loved her dearly. He was thrilled when his oldest granddaughter gave him a beautiful great grandson. He had a heart of gold and was always willing and able to help anyone that needed help. He touched many lives over the course of his life. He loved the Lord and is now in his true home.
Terry is survived by his wife, Barb; daughter, Tiffany (Richard) Storm; granddaughters Allison and Ivy Storm; and great grandson Parker.
