Steven Somerville Obituary

Steven Charles Somerville, age 57, of Harvard, IL, passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022.

He was born on May 12, 1964 in Alexandria, Minnesota to parents George and Adrienne (Torscher) Somerville.

Steven was a member of the 1982 class of Harvard High School and was a brilliant student who excelled at sports, playing on the baseball, wrestling, and football teams.  He continued to play football and attend classes at Carthage College; graduating in 1986 with a bachelor's degree in accounting.

Steve worked hard his entire life, predominantly in the accounting field.  He was a Controller, Assistant Controller, Vice President, and Chief Financial Officer for various companies in the construction industry.

On December 29, 1990, Steve married Michele Ulmer in Harvard at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Steve is survived by his wife Michele Somerville, five children Mackenzie, Mason (Racheal), McCabe, Maxwell, and Malyren Somerville, his grandson Hudson Somerville, siblings Ken (Sherryl) Somerville, Cathleen (Phil) Fleming, Dave Somerville, Diana (Brent) Lilja, Laurie Somerville, Tim Somerville, and Corinne (Rick) Protz, mother and father-in-law Kurt and Lynda Ulmer, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents George and Adrienne Somerville, sister Jennifer Somerville, and brother Ludwig Somerville.

Steve enjoyed spending time with his family, playing and watching sports, lifting weights, solving Sudoku puzzles, learning new things, helping his children with their homework, cooking, making people laugh, and taking cross country motorcycle trips with his friends.  He was a loving, generous, and fantastic husband, father, brother, boss, and friend.  We will always remember his big smile, words of wisdom, and contagious laugh.

Per Steve's wishes a celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.
