Stanley Ray Goldsmith, 81, of Poplar Grove, IL, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Alden Debes in Rockford, IL.
Stan was born June 18, 1943 to Raymond Enos and Jewell Lucille (Casey) Goldsmith in California. He married Roberta Joann Hess in 1965 at the First Baptist Church in Carterville, IL. Roberta passed away in 2006.
Stan graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s Degree and later received his Master’s Degree from Northern Illinois University.
He worked in Harvard School District 50 for 38 years. He was a math teacher, dean of students, principal, and basketball coach.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Harvard. He was a Deacon and Gideon.
He loved to ride his motorcycle and garden. He enjoyed traveling. Some trips including China, Ireland, Sweden, Germany, and Hawaii.
Survivors include his daughters Lucinda Joann Gray, Rana Susann Louis of Naples, FL, Jewell Elizabeth (Chad Riesen) Goldsmith-Riesen of Roscoe, IL, six grandchildren Amelia Gray, Malaki Gray, Magdalena Gray, Peri JoLeah Louis, Paige Isril Louis, and Chloie Elizabeth Riesen, sister Sherrill (Donnie) Evans of Carterville, IL, and longtime partner Joanne Burtness of Poplar Grove, IL.
He was preceded in death by his wife Roberta Goldsmith.
There will be a memorial gathering from 10 AM until the 12 Noon memorial service on Friday, August 9, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Harvard, 1102 N. 4th St., Harvard, IL 60033.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Harvard and the Boone County Fire Protection District 2.
