Shirley M. (Aardema) Schoelkopf

Shirley Mae Schoelkopf, age 84, of Marengo, IL, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025. Daughter of the late Martin and Hilda (Zuidema) Aardema, Shirley was born on July 16, 1941, in Chicago, IL. She graduated from Chicago Vocational High School in 1959 and went on to take classes in art and general studies at McHenry County College. Shirley worked to develop her natural talents, becoming a gifted artist. On May 28, 1960, Shirley was united in marriage to the love of her life, Rolf Schoelkopf, in Palos Heights, IL.

Shirley is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Rolf Schoelkopf; children, Erika (Brian) Morgan of Crystal Lake, IL and Michael Schoelkopf of Marengo, IL; grandchildren, Noah (Liv), Joshua, and Amanda Morgan; and great-grandson, Miles Morgan. In death, she is reunited with her parents, Martin and Hilda; and brothers, Ronald and David Aardema.

A visitation will take place from 1:00-4:00PM on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St., Harvard, IL 60033. A funeral service will immediately follow at 4:00PM at the funeral home. Shirley will be laid to rest at Mt. Auburn Cemetery on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 12:00PM.
