Shirley Jean Chinn, age 82, passed away on May 29, 2026, at Mercy Janesville Hospital in Janesville, Wisconsin.
Shirley was born on August 30, 1943 to Karl and Helen (Rossman) Colcord in Woodstock, Illinois. She was the beloved wife of the late Clarence J. Chinn, whom she married on September 9, 1961. Clarence preceded her in death on November 21, 2023.
Shirley’s life was filled with love for her family, her faith, and her community. She was a long-standing member of the First United Methodist Church of Harvard where she was the secretary for many years. She also volunteered and served on multiple committees at the Church. She retired from the McHenry Co. Jury Commission. In her personal time she enjoyed gardening, canning, and freezing the farm’s home grown produce to enjoy year round. She loved nostalgia and area history. She was an avid book reader. As a Woman of the Moose, she volunteered for many years.
She is survived by her children Kanen Chinn, Gayle (Tim) Johnson, and Brian (Brenda) Chinn. She was a proud grandmother to Brenden, Blaike, Colton, Megan, Grayson, and Ethan. Shirley is survived by her sisters Pat Niles and Carol (Larry) Moody, as well as her brother Ken (Vickie) Colcord.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Clarence, parents Karl and Helen, and her brother-in-law Nathan Niles.

A visitation will be held 3 - 7 PM, June 10, 2026 at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St., Harvard, IL, 60033. An additional visitation will be held from 10 AM until the 11 AM funeral service on June 11, 2026 at First United Methodist Church, 1100 N. Division St., Harvard, IL 60033. Interment will follow at Dunham-Chemung Cemetery in Chemung, IL.
