Russell Leroy Barber

Russell Leroy Barber, 84, of Harvard, died Tue., Nov. 10 at his home surrounded by family.

Russell was born July 24, 1937 to Ernest Donald and Sylvia Geraldine (Iverson) Barber in Belvidere, IL.  He married Sandra Whitmer on Nov. 16, 2016 in McHenry County.  Russell loved working in his yard and keeping it pristine.  Also, he worked for Dean Foods and had worked installing drywall.

Russell is survived by his wife Sandra Whitmer Barber of Harvard, two children Terry Lee (Peg) Barber of Beloit, WI and Dena Lee (Scott) Ross of Harvard, 2 step children Frank (Lisa) Whitmer, Gina Whitmer, 5 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 3 step-great grandchildren, and siblings Clare (Dick) York of Mountain View, MO and Dick (Bob Fredrick) Barber of Cape Coral, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Sylvia, son Gary, step-son Tony, and his first wife Myrna (Smith) Barber.

The visitation will be 4-8 PM Fri., Nov. 19 at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St., Harvard, IL 60033.  The funeral will be 11 AM Sat., Nov. 20 at the funeral home.  Pastor Claire Brennecka will officiate.  Interment will be in Dunham-Chemung Cemetery.
