Robert "Bob" Wittmus

Robert “Bob” Wittmus, 95, of Machesney Park passed away on April 13, 2023. Bob was born on April 13, 1928, in Harvard, Illinois, the son of Walter and Hilda (Johnson) Wittmus. He graduated from Harvard High School, class of 1946. Bob went on to attend Carthage College and Purdue University where he received his bachelor's degree. Bob also attended graduate school at the University of Michigan Graduate School of Business. After graduation, Bob was employed by Union Carbide. He worked for many years as a trader before retiring from the Chicago Board Options Exchange on May 1, 1993. Bob had a seat on the Chicago Board of Trade and traded on Wall Street. Bob was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, golf, and travelling- especially to Florida where he escaped from winter.

Bob is survived by his loving partner of over 34 years, Hanna Brady, and her family Debbie (Jack) Venable, David (Kathi) Brady, Colleen (Dan) Calhoun, and Laurie (Dennis) Wilkening; as well as his first cousins Nancy Nolan and Janey Sigler.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Hilda Wittmus.

A visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the 10:00 AM service on Monday, April 17, 2023, at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St., Harvard, Illinois 60033. Interment will be at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Harvard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Bob’s honor to Trinity Lutheran Church, 504 E. Diggins St., Harvard, IL 60033.
