Robert E Cutts

July 29, 1931 ~ January 9, 2022 (age 90)

Bob was born in Shabbona, Illinois, on July 29, 1931 to Clyde and Eulalia Cutts. He passed away January 9, 2022.

He was a very kind and caring man, loved God as well as his family and many friends.  He will be missed by all.

Bob lived on a farm all of his life.  He graduated from Kirkland High School and played center on the basketball team.  After graduating from high school, he joined the Marine Corps. After training at Camp Pendleton in California, Bob went by ship to Korea. He was discharged from the Marine Corps and decided he didn’t want to do farming. He left the farm he lived on with his brother Stan who left farming too. They then went to Harvard where Bob started working at Burtons Feed for a while. Eventually he ended up working at Kretchmer Brothers Lumber where he worked for 40 years. Bob was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Harvard.

He met his future wife Barbara Schuld at her grandparents’ home in Harvard.  Her Uncle Wayne was a friend of Bob’s.  It was “Milk Day” weekend 1955 when they met, they were married May 25, 1957 and were married for 64 years.  During that time, they had 2 children, Daniel (Dan) and Dena.  They spent many summers camping up north and out west.  He spent many winters fox hunting with Floyd and Lloyd Kretchmer, his son Dan, and the Alden guys.  Bob and Barbara also liked Square Dancing and danced with “The Harvard Milk Center Squares”, as well as bowling with their teammates, Pat and Garry Berry.   It was good times. He also spent many summers playing golf and Horseshoes at the Harvard Moose Lodge with his brother-in-law Roger Payne.  Bob and his wife Barbara loved spending time watching their son Dan play baseball when he was younger. Also, Bob was an amazing carpenter and could fix just about anything. He built his family home, and whenever he would get a call, he never said no.  When he retired, Barb and he would go to Arizona in the winters. They had a camper and did a lot of hiking and sightseeing. As they got older, they sold the camper and bought a (park model) in Florida. Barbs brother Al and his wife Susan had a house in Florida too.

He is survived by his loving wife Barbara and children Dan (Andrea) Cutts, Harvard, IL, Dena (Cutts) Montgomery, Marengo, IL and granddaughter Chloe Montgomery, Naperville, IL, and his sister Lois Arney, DeKalb, IL
