He was an electrical engineer

HARVARD – Raymond A. Kunavich, 65, of Harvard, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2005, at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington.

He was born Feb. 20, 1940, in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Anton and Marian (Orte) Kunavich.

He was an electrical engineer with Admiral, where he developed a fondness for the town and people of Harvard. From 1977 to 1987, he lived and worked in Taiwan, where he was general manager in charge of operations for Atari and later Zenith Taiwan Corp. He also worked for and retired from the Moose, where he traveled the state of Illinois auditing the books for individual clubs. He worked as needed for Chemung Township with accounting and payroll.

He also was in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a hobby mechanic and loved to have a car with a little pep. He liked electronic gadgets and computers because of his engineering background. He was a sentimental guy who cherished family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Phillip (Monica) of Streamwood and David (Christine) of Oswego; five grandchildren, Michael, Jennifer, Kristina, Hailey and Kelsey; two sisters, Theresa Kunavich of La Crescent, Minn., and Ann (Dan) Krick of Camanche, Iowa; a brother, Robert Kunavich of Clinton, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the 7 p.m. service Thursday, Dec. 15, at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St., Harvard. Deacon Tony Koss will officiate.

Interment will be private.

Memorials may be made to the American Legion, Harvard Post 265, P. O. Box 36, Harvard, IL 60033.
