Ramona Bauman Obituary

Ramona Mae Bauman, 93, of Walworth, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Golden Years of Lake Geneva surrounded by her family. Ramona was born February 12, 1929 in Harvard, Illinois to Francis Martin Wille and Bessie Alice (Carbrey) Wille. Ramona retired to New Smyrna Beach, Florida in 1983. In 2012 she moved to Walworth, Wisconsin to be closer to family and began residing at Golden Years Independent Living Village.  


Ramona was an entrepreneur and self-taught in most of her careers. She was passionate about everything she did with a drive for success. She had many careers throughout her life such as: working at Admiral, owned and operated the EZ Stop restaurant, she worked at the Chamber of Commerce, she owned Bauman Builders along with her ex-husband Harry Bauman, she worked at the Harvard Herald, where she created and sold adds, she attended jewelry school and studied the trade of a jeweler. Ramona also owned and operated a jewelry store in Orlando, Florida. She created many beautiful pieces of jewelry for friends, family and customers. Ramona was a real estate agent, a real estate broker and a travel agent both in Harvard and New Smyrna Beach.
 
Ramona loved to volunteer her time. She was on the Milk Day Committees and organized special guests and dignitaries, including President Johnson’s daughter and Olympic skater Janet Lynn.  She created signs along with the help of her sisters for the dignitary’s vehicles in the Milk Day Parade. Ramona helped organize groups for kids such as “Up With People’. She was also on the Harvard School Board, a member at the Harvard Moose Lodge, a member of the Business and Professional Women of Harvard and a member at the Elks Club in Florida.
 
Ramona was an incredibly talented woman. She enjoyed taking lots of photos, painting, expanding her knowledge and loved to learn. She also loved to share all of her adventures and love for learning. In her down time, she enjoyed bird watching. She instructed a small painting group at Golden Years Retirement Home. Ramona’s true love was her family and traveling. She had traveled to every location of the world and loved a good adventure. She was a very caring and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was her life and she loved getting together with everyone and always made room for more.
 
Ramona is survived by her children; Marilyn (Bauman Ohlenroth) Nash and David (Barb) Bauman, grandchildren; Genevieve (Jeff) Miller, Tyson (Amber) Bauman, Joshua (Becky) Ohlenroth, Krystal (Andy) Ohlenroth Houser, Nickolas (Libby) Bauman, Jared (Jessica) Bauman, Caine Bauman, Jonas (Olivia) Bauman, Jane (Alan) Martin, Alyshia (Mike) Hart, and Stephanie (Trent) Raupe, 22 great-grandchildren. Siblings; Raymond (May) Wille, Jeanne McQueen, Mary Church, and Bonnie Miner, and many nieces and nephews.
 
She was preceded in death by her son, Dwight Eugene Bauman, her parents, Francis and Bessie Wille, and her sister, Minnie Brady.
 
There will be a visitation from 9 AM until the 11 AM Funeral service, Friday, June 24 at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St., Harvard, IL 60033.  Interment will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Luncheon to immediately follow at the Harvard Moose Lodge. Family and friends may sign the online guest book at www.saundersmcfarlin.net.
