Philip R. Ferris II
Philip R. Ferris II, beloved father, grandfather, and friend to many, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on January 24, 2025. Born in Harvard, IL, Philip spent most of his life in his hometown before moving to Chicago seven years ago.
Philip was the cherished son of Philip and Alice Ferris, who preceded him in death, along with his brother Joe Ferris. He leaves behind his loving children, Brandon (Amy Borsini) Ferris and Christina (Robert) Zdanis, and his adored grandchildren, Arielle Zdanis, Etta, and Coco Ferris. He is also survived by his siblings, Will (Sandra Wittmus) Ferris, Eleanor Mendiola, and Mark Ferris, as well as many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
He proudly attended Drake University and graduated with a BA from Milton College, Philip dedicated many years to the family business, Ferris Bros., as well as H&M Limo and Motorola.
Philip had a lifelong passion for trains and possessed a wealth of knowledge about them, sharing his enthusiasm with anyone who would listen. He had been a member of the Harvard Rotary and the Harvard Jaycees, and he was deeply devoted to his faith and his church, Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church.
Known for his kindness and sweet nature, Philip made a lasting impression on everyone he met, always treating others with warmth and compassion.
Visitation and funeral services will be held at Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church, 1449 N Quentin Rd, Palatine, IL 60067, on Tuesday, January 28th, 2025. The visitation will be from 9AM until the 10:30AM funeral service. Burial will follow at 1:30PM in Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Harvard, IL.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to American Heart Association.
Philip will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his legacy of love and faith will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
