Patrick Howden Obituary

Patrick Howden, 82, of Harvard, IL passed away peacefully at his home on October 24, 2025.
Pat was born on June 9, 1943, in Harvard, IL, the son of Hugh and Leone (Nolan) Howden. He graduated from Harvard High School and then went on to serve his country in the US Marine Corps. Pat married Deborah Sweet on November 4, 1978, in Woodstock, IL.

Pat dedicated over 43 ½ years to working at Dean Foods. He was a record holding weightlifter and appeared on television and in print many times, showcasing his talents. Pat was a steadfast proponent of helping improve yourself. While in high school, he was an ace pitcher and earned Harvard’s first wrestling win. Pat was a good, kind man who always kept a respectable mouth. He was a big fan of John Denver and loved listening to his music. Pat liked being a part of the annual Milk Days Parade. Pat had a fondness for birds and enjoyed rehabbing and rescuing a variety of birds, raccoons, squirrels, bunnies, and you name it alongside his beloved wife Deb.

He was a determined man who did not ever want to waste time. Some of his favorite hobbies and ways to occupy his time included metal detecting and artifact collecting. Pat enjoyed the hunt for American Indian artifacts and had an impressive collection. He could walk incredibly fast and was known to walk miles daily. Pat also enjoyed painting houses. More than anything, he cherished spending time with family and did quite a bit of travelling with them.

Pat is survived by his wife of nearly 47 years Deborah; his son Joshua (Melissa) Howden; daughter Griffen Howden; and his grandson Joshua Howden Jr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother James Howden, and many beloved pets including his cherished starling, Arnie.
