Muriel “Judy” Judith Walter, 88, of Capron, IL, passed away peacefully in her home on June 11, 2024.
Judy was born on January 10, 1936, in Mundelein, IL the daughter of Walter and Alice (Grainger) Robinson. She married Kenneth E. Walter on January 16, 1954 in Harvard, IL.
Judy enjoyed travelling with her family, camping, fishing, bowling, and crafts. She liked to collect things, particularly pigs and rocks the grandkids found throughout their travels with Gram and Grandpa. Judy loved to read and shared her passion for books with her family. She would read to her grandchildren when they were younger and encouraged them to read as they grew up, often taking them to the used bookstore to pick some out. Judy also enjoyed singing old show tunes with the grandkids when they were little.
Judy is survived by her children Lori Hawes of Capron, Lana (Rob) Meyer of Chemung, David (Brenda) Walter of Hebron, Kathy Flynn of Knoxville, TN, and Duane Walter of Capron; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren: and 13 great-great-grandchildren with one more on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth; daughter-in-law Kimmey Walter; sons-in-law Ken Hawes and Bob Flynn; grandsons Nicholas Hawes and Samuel Walter; six sisters and four brothers.
Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the 12 PM funeral service on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St., Harvard, IL 60033. Interment to follow at Dunham-Chemung Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Judy’s honor to the Capron Elementary School Library.
