Msgt Robert R. Kerschke USAF Retired, 71, of Marengo, passed away on Thur., March 9 at Northwestern Medicine Huntley.
Bob was born Aug. 15, 1951 to Roger K. and Lorraine R. (Berlin) Kerschke in Evanston, IL. On Aug. 21, 1971, he married Caroline L. Michling at Grace Lutheran Church in Woodstock. Bob was a career military man serving 23 years. He served in Vietnam and during Desert Storm doing avionics maintenance. Bob’s military service moved his family frequently living at bases in Illinois, California twice, Michigan twice, Indiana, Texas, and Germany. After retirement, he also worked at Warner Electric in Marengo and Walmart in Belvidere.
Bob was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, TREA Chapter 90, the American Legion Post 192, and the Boy Scouts. He was a man devoted to his faith and his family. He enjoyed fishing and spending time telling jokes, doing puzzles, and playing euchre with his beloved wife, kids and 9 grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Caroline Kerschke of Marengo, children Robert (Susan) Kerschke Jr. of Malta, IL, Rev. Katrina (Rev. James) Gallagher of Monmouth, IL, and Jason (Mary) Kerschke of Mason, MI, grandchildren Ryne, Brendan, Noelle, and Carson Kerschke, Heide, Nate, and Trace Gallagher, and Amelia and Riley Kerschke, and brother Kenneth (Suki) Kerschke of New Lisbon, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents Roger and Lorraine (Berlin) Kerschke.
The visitation will be 4 – 8 PM Tue., March 14 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 504 E. Diggins St., Harvard, IL 60033, and again on Wed., March 15 from 10 AM until the 11 AM funeral service at Trinity Lutheran Church. Rev. Elizabeth Martin will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Harvard.
