Mary Ann J (Pawelek) Grajek

Mary Ann J. Grajek passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at Northwest Community Hospital, with JourneyCare Hospice.

She was born July 16, 1932 to Joann (Ptak) and Frank Pawelek in Chicago, IL. She married Richard A. Grajek on June 29, 1963 at Saint Adalbert Church in Chicago. They spent 35 years together before Richard's passing on February 19, 1999.

Mary Ann was a homemaker, and she did data entry in the medical insurance field. She was able to go to work when her children went into school and worked for three major insurance companies, Intracorp, Zurich and Cigna, she did that through her retirement as well as taking care of her children.  She enjoyed sewing, old musical movies, solving crossword puzzles, cooking, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She was always willing to help people and animals, donating many blankets to the animal shelter and pets in need.

She is survived by three children; Kathleen (Gary) Klages of Harvard, IL, David (Heidi) Grajek of Zenda, WI, Jeffrey (Jenny) Grajek of Elgin, IL, and six grandchildren; Garrett, Katrina (Gage) Mares, Justin, Jack, Benjamin, and Michael, with one great-grandchild who she was excited to meet.

She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Joann Pawelek, husband Richard Grajek, and brothers Stanley, Joseph, and Eugene Pawelek.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2022 from 10-11 AM with services to follow at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home; 107 W. Sumner St. Harvard, IL. Interment will be at St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles, IL

Donations can be made in Mary Ann's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to Young at Heart senior pet rescue, in Woodstock, IL.
