Marline (Molly) Mae Held, age 99, of Harvard, IL, died early Tuesday morning, April 5, 2022, at her place of residency at Valley Hi Nursing Home.
Born September 16, 1922, in Wonewoc, WI, Molly was the daughter to Frank & Clara Mae (Sloan) Karstetter. She also had a twin sister, Arline. Molly married the late Herman Carl Held (6/4/2003) on December 22, 1944 in La Valle, WI. They spent 59 wonderful years together and raised their family: daughter Linda, and two sons Dennis and Kevin, in Harvard, IL. Besides being a loving wife and mother, she also worked farming with her husband, and 20 years at Admiral in Harvard, IL. She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Harvard, where she participated in Lutheran Woman and also in the choir many years ago. Molly was a very active member of society, and enjoyed spending time in her community, volunteering at Golden Years in Walworth, WI, the Harvard Rest Home, and the Harvard Food Pantry. She was a member of Milk Center Seniors and Harvard Garden Club. Molly was also President of American Legion and an active member of the Local VFW. Besides spending time with family, she enjoyed gardening and writing short stories.
She is survived by one sister, Shirley, and her sons Dennis Held of Champaign, IL and Kevin (Phyllis) Held of Harvard, IL; who were Molly’s caretakers for several years. Molly also had six grand-children: Phillip (Letty) Held, Kristy (Cody) Schwartz, Kelly (Dan) Wood, Justin (Anne) Paquette, Mandy (Jo) Dwyer, and Eric (Amanda) Held. Molly was also blessed with ten great grand-children: Alex, Bella, Jillian, Madilynn, Lucas, Freya, Connor, Clair, Sydney, & Colton.
Molly was preceded in death by husband, Herman Held; and siblings Paul, Bill, Bob, twin sister Arline, Leta, Florence & Gladys; daughter Linda Paquette & son-in-law Doug Paquette.
Molly was a kindred spirit and will be missed greatly by all that knew her.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m on Wednesday, April 13 at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St. Harvard, IL. Service will immediately follow. Burial will be at Big Foot Cemetery. Fellowship after burial will be held at grand-daughter Kristy’s home in Fontana, WI.
