Margaret McClory Obituary

Margaret Ann "Marge" McClory, 77, of Daytona Beach Shores, FL, was called home to our Lord on January 22, 2021. Her beautiful and gracious heart was tired and could not keep up the fight any longer.

Marge was born in Chicago, IL on July 20, 1943 to John and Margaret McClory. She lost her mother at a very young age, but had the most influential Irish upbringing, with the help of aunts, uncles and cousins who instilled in her a lifelong love of her parents' home country Ireland. When she was married, she moved from Chicago, to Roselle, and then to a farm in Harvard, IL, where she raised her five children.

In 2002, she vacationed in Florida and decided to make it her home. She soon became the busiest retired person in the Shores, who would help anyone who asked. She worked tirelessly for her church, Catholic Church of the Epiphany, because her faith was the most important part of her life. She had a compassionate and nurturing soul, and took care of the sick and aging in her condo. She was passionate about all that she did, which led her to organizing many of the social events, including a water aerobics class.

She loved to dance, go to dinner, serve as a Eucharistic minister, and spend time with her special friend Tom. She enjoyed playing cards with friends from Harvard and the ladies from Oceans Six. She embraced life to the fullest, and home was wherever Marge was. She will be remembered for her strong faith and loving personality, beautiful smile, big laugh, and positive outlook.

Although she was considered family by all who knew her, her own family will miss her beyond measure. She was the cog that kept the extended family together. Relatives near and far got together if Marge was in town. She was our connection to all that is Irish. With hundreds of cousins in Ireland, she was always welcomed "home" during her many visits there over the years.

Her role as mother and grandmother were most precious to her. She is survived by her children Ann (Chuck), Susie (Tom), Marjorie, and Chuck; and her grandchildren Carissa (Mike), Alex, Jackson, Ellie, Katie, Maggie and Paige. She is also survived by her brother Johnny (Susie) and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Welcoming her home are her parents, her son John, sister Mary and brothers Joey, Donald, Jimmy and Michael.

The funeral mass will be lived streamed at 10 AM, Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021.

Private family interment will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Harvard, IL.
