Lawrence Dean Spesard

Lawrence Dean Spesard, known to many as Dean, 91, of Harvard passed away on Friday, December 25, 2020, at Mercy Harvard Care Center.

He was born March 5, 1929, in Broadlands, IL to Foster and Naomi Daisy (Archer) Spesard.

Dean worked as a plant manager for McHenry (Conserv) FS for over 20 years until retirement; prior to that he was a dairy farmer in Cary, IL. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Harvard, IL where he was a Deacon and an Elder. He was a member of the McHenry County Antique and Tractor Club for many years. Dean enjoyed restoring antique International Farmall tractors. He was an excellent gardener and he loved to play euchre with his friends and watch pro, college, and high-school basketball.

Dean married Florence Lanter (Hageman) on October 26, 1991, at the Presbyterian Church, Marengo, IL.

Survivors include his wife Florence; children: Rick Spesard, Randy (Julie) Spesard, Ray (Sharon) Spesard, and step-daughter, Michelle (Paul) Lanter Smith; grandchildren: Melody Spesard, Susie (Ryan) Blocker, Hollie (Brandon) Jasinski, Mark (Danielle) Spesard, Chantel (Steve) Mayer, Joe Spesard, Grace Smith, Erick Smith, Nate Smith; great-grandchildren: Caleb Jasinski, Lydia Jasinski, Zander Jasinski, Mya Blocker, Max Blocker, Brie Mayer; extended family: Ken Hartje, Emily Hartje, and Ryan Hartje.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Spesard. His living siblings are Wilbur Spesard, Wilma (Kenny) Lewis, and Judy Rademacher.

A memorial gathering will be held from 10- 11.am. Saturday, June 12, 2021, at The First Presbyterian Church, 7100 Harvard Hills Road, Harvard, IL 60033. Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or the MCFB Foundation (Ag in the Classroom).
