Larry L. Van Hout, 76, of Harvard, Illinois, passed from this life into eternal life on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. Son of the late Glenn R. and Ruth I. Van Hout, Larry was born on June 6, 1950, in Ortonville, MN. He served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1969-1971 during the Vietnam War. On November 17, 1973, Larry was united in marriage with Jackie L. Richert in Woodstock, IL, and the couple went on to raise three children together. He was a laborer and bricklayer for his entire career until retirement.
Larry was a member of the Harvard Sportsman’s Club and the Harvard Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, archery, hunting and spending time with family. He was known as “Papa” to his 7 grandchildren, who would eagerly await all the days they could spend time with him. Those who knew Larry, knew that he was always making us laugh with stories told or his dry sense of humor. His wife Jackie really appreciated his love for cooking.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jackie Van Hout; children, Terri Jo (Mark) Jones, Bridget (Chad) Beth, and Scott Van Hout; seven grandchildren, Kaitlynn (Grant Kemink), Alyssa, Liam, Chase, Olivia, Brianna and Audrey; one great-grandchild due in December, and his brother, Dick (JoEllen) Van Hout; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In death, he is reunited with his parents and his brother, Ron Van Hout.
Larry will be laid to rest at McHenry County Memorial Park with military honors. Services are private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Larry’s honor to the VFW.
Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home is honored to serve the Van Hout family.
