Lana Cavin

Lana Cavin, 82, of Harvard passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024. She was born on November 23, 1941, in Harvard to Henry and Edna (Peters) Bopp. Lana attended St. Joseph’s School and graduated from Harvard High School. On October 3, 1959, Lana married Francis “Fran” Cavin at St. Joseph’s Church in Harvard.

Lana worked as a preschool teacher for the Head Start Community Action Agency for McHenry County located in Harvard for 20 years and substituted for an additional 5 years. She also delivered Meals on Wheels for several years, and, of course, helped to make those historical ham sandwiches at Bopp’s Tavern for “years past” Milk Day Festivals. Lana enjoyed many annual family fishing trips to northern Minnesota and taking motorcycle trips covering most states with her husband, Fran, on their Honda Goldwing. Lana enjoyed attending craft shows and most of all being with her family.

Lana is survived by her two children, Maureen (Scott) Matzer, and Brian (Lauri) Cavin; grandchildren Jenna (Travis) Aly and Joel (Beth) Cavin; great grandchildren Henry and Oliver, Sonny, Mack and Leo Cavin and Blaire Aly; brothers Terry (Mary Caryl) Bopp and Sean (Judy) Bopp; special neighbors Steve and Kim Schultz; and step-grandchildren Zerah and Cyrena Pierce.

Lana was preceded in death by her husband, Fran, infant daughter, Judith Ann, Parents, Henry and Edna Bopp, Mother and Father In-law, Eleanor and Ray Cavin and special Brother-In-Law Gene Cavin.

Visitation time will be held from 12 until the 12:30 funeral mass on Friday, June 28, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Church, 206 E. Front Street Harvard, IL, with inurnment immediately following at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
