Kenneth F. Gieseke, 91, of Belvidere, Il passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at Symphony Northwoods Care Centre.
Kenneth was born in Crystal Lake, IL to Louis C. and Martha (Zink) Gieseke on April 23, 1931. He graduated from Woodstock High School in Woodstock, IL, in 1949. Kenneth married Lucille (Henning) Gieseke on October 23, 1954, in Huntley, IL. They celebrated 68 loving years of marriage. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict, where he taught airplane engine maintenance and repair at Amarillo Air Force Base in Texas. He and Lucille had three children, Rodney (Karen) Gieseke, Cheryl Gieseke, and Joy (Dan) Feinauer. Kenneth was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Harvard, IL where he sang in the choir and served in various leadership positions. Kenneth was a dairy farmer in Woodstock and Harvard for twenty years before transitioning to his work as a Control Technician at ANR Pipeline where he worked for 24 years, retiring in 1996. In retirement he enjoyed woodworking, fixing anything that was broken, especially for his grandchildren, helping with beet harvest in Michigan, and a good Friday fish fry. He was a problem solver and willing to help anyone in need. He was a dear husband, father, brother, grandfather, family member, and friend.
Kenneth is loved and will be deeply missed by his wife and children; grandchildren, Joel (Brooke Butler) Gieseke, Brent (Lindsay) Gieseke, Dana (Tony) Ayers, Kirk (Cortney) Feinauer, Kyle Feinauer, Brad Feinauer, and Evan (Jayna ) Feinauer; great-grandchildren Jackson Janssen, Alivia Butler, Brendon Gieseke, Sierra Gieseke, Landon Gieseke, Hayden Gieseke, Dallas (Mikaela) Ayers, Ivy Ayers, Reagan Ayers, Kennedy Ayers, Cameron Feinauer, Carson Feinauer, Claire Feinauer, and Adalynn Feinauer; great-great-grandchildren, Fallon Ayers, and Bobbie Ayers, numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Martha, four brothers, and two sisters.
A visitation will be at 4 – 7 PM Monday, February 13, 2023, at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St., Harvard, IL 60033. Another visitation will be 10 – 11 am Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1045 Belvidere Rd. Belvidere, IL 61008 with services to follow. Everyone is invited to the luncheon at the church immediately after the funeral service.
