Juan Felipe Esquivel Castillo

Juan Felipe Esquivel Castillo, 58, of Glendale, AZ, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at his niece’s home in Harvard, following a long-term battle with cancer. 

Juan was born on June 12, 1966, in Municipio de Coatepec Harinas Estado de Mexico to Manuel Esquivel and Maria Castillo.  He married Margarita Hortencia Garcia in January 2001 in Las Vegas.

Juan drove a lot of machinery in his career, but he was the happiest driving semi. He worked in construction in building homes and was a supervisor. Juan worked as a crane operator and most recently, at his brother’s landscaping company. 

Juan loved spending his time riding his motorcycle and watching his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed being outside in his gazebo with his wife and his loving dogs. Juan loved showing his family, that visited, around Glendale and taking them to all his favorite spots. He was always happy and cracking jokes. 

Juan is survived by his wife Margarita Hortencia Garcia; sons  Mike (Tricia) Paulson, Scott (Amy) Paulson, Rich Paulson; grandchildren Amy (Elesio) Ramos, Emily Paulson, Conner Paulson, Alexander Paulson, Taylor Paulson, and Delaney Paulson; his mother Maria Castillo de Esquivel; siblings Elodia (Modesto Castaneda) Esquivel Castillo, Victor (Martha) Esquivel, Pedro (Elena) Esquivel, Maria Concepcion (Jose Luis) Gonzalez, Jose Alejandro (Teresa) Esquivel, Mari (Jose Bernal) Esquivel, Fernando (Estela) Esquivel; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Manuel Esquivel, and his siblings Juan (Socorro) Esquivel, Maria Guadalupe, Maria Jovita, Maria Luisa, and Olivia Esquivel, and his daughter-in-law Courtney Paulson.

Funeral mass will be at 2 PM on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 206 E. Front St., Harvard, IL 60033.  There will be a visitation from 4 – 8 PM Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St., Harvard, IL 60033.
