Josephine Melby

Josephine Melby, age 82, of Strum, WI, and formerly of Harvard, IL, entered God’s Kingdom on September 21, 2026, in Pigeon Falls, WI.  Daughter of the late Vern and Viola Lockwood, Josephine was born on February 29, 1944, in Lansing, MI, one of seven children.  

Josephine worked for Ashley Furniture for many years. In her free time, she enjoyed talking with friends and family. She was known for her quick wit and great sense of humor. Josephine was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvard, and her faith remained an important part of her life throughout the years.

Josephine is survived by her daughters, Susan (Scott) Schelling and Katherine (Joshua) Waters; grandchildren, Ashleigh Dale-Coe, Cody Nelson, Kiya (Carter) Melby-Heath, Matthew Schwoch, and Summer Waters; great-grandchildren, Braeden, Rhylee, and Arianna; and brothers, Irven and Chuck Lockwood.

In death, she is reunited with her parents, Vern and Viola; and siblings, Judy, Patricia, Jim, and Rex.

The visitation will be 10 AM until the 12 Noon funeral service Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St., Harvard, IL 60033. Interment will follow at McHenry County Memorial Park in Woodstock, IL.
