John C Drapanes, 84, of Marengo died on Friday, January 8, 2021, at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born October 8, 1936, in Chicago, IL to Charles and Anne Drapanes. Affectionately known as “The Greek”. He worked at Protect-all as a Vice President of Operations for many years until retirement.
John was an avid reader, a White Sox and Chicago Bears fan. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, woodworking, cooking, and spending time with his family. His most proud moment in golf was on May 15, 1992, when he made a hole in one on hole number 3 at Terrace Hill. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Harvard, IL.
John married the love of his life Judith on May 11, 1963.
He was preceded in death by his dear sister Jeanne D Schmitz.
Survivors include his spouse of 57 years Judy; children Denise (Sean) Molloy, Maureen (John) Scime, Christine (Brian) Fiorito, and Charles Drapanes; grandchildren Bradley (Cami), Joshua, Allison (Bradley) Ringwald, Meaghan, Christopher (Jess), Danielle, Grant, Hannah, Jake, John, and Joe; and his great-grandson Jaxson Scime.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 206 E. Front St. Harvard, IL 60033. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 7 p.m. at the church. Inurnment will take place at a later date in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Harvard, IL.
