Joann K. Dobosz

Joann K. Dobosz, 81, of Harvard, IL, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Mercyhealth Hospital in Janesville, WI. Daughter of the late Dean and Katherine (Dacy) Swenson, Joann was born in Harvard on December 9, 1944, the middle of 3 children. 

She graduated from Marian Central Catholic High School and went on to earn her nursing degree at Holy Cross School of Nursing in South Bend, IN. On September 23, 1967, Joann was united in marriage with Ronald J. Dobosz in South Bend. The couple started their family in South Bend and later moved to Harvard in the 1980’s. Joann worked as a 2nd shift nurse for over 40 years. 

Joann found joy in crocheting, gardening, and cooking, and had an impressively large collection of recipes. She especially loved hummingbirds and treasured the simple joy of feeding them and watching them visit her yard.

Joann is survived by her daughters, Christine (Don) LeVine and Cathi Vaughn; grandchildren, Cody and Riley Johnson and Jordan Vaughn; and two brothers, Jerry (Judy) and Tom (Barbara) Swenson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron, on June 21, 2005. 

No services will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Joann’s honor to Valley Hi Nursing Home in Woodstock, IL.
