Jean Rae Maxwell

Jean Rae Maxwell, 95, of Woodstock, IL passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025.

Jean was born on July 6, 1930, in Herman, MN, the daughter of Irven and Charlotte (Mollman) Ekberg. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church in Herman.  Jean attended a one-room country school and Graduated from Herman High School in 1948.  She then graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Macalester College with a special degree in Medical Technology from the Charles T Miller Hospital.  She married Edward E. Maxwell on September 28, 1957, in Woodstock, IL.

During Jean’s work history, she was employed as a Medical Technician, an X-Ray Technologist and a Nuclear Medical Technologist.  Later in her working years, she retired as a Med-Tech and became a licensed Realtor in Wisconsin and Illinois.  Jean was a member of the Harvard Moose Lodge and truly enjoyed playing bridge and entertaining her friends in the McHenry County area.  She loved fancy automobiles and was always dressed to the nine’s.         

Jean is survived by her Sister Eileen (Wesley) Scott of Richfield, Mn, Nephew Jay R. (Susan) Scott of Minneapolis, MN; and several grand nieces and nephew.

She was reunited in death with her parents, beloved husband Edward, and her infant Sister, a Stepmother, her Sister Marilyn (Ted) Scherer of Peoria, Az and her Nephew Jeffrey (Lou Ann) Scott of Peoria, Az.

A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 9:00AM until 10:00AM, at which time a memorial service will take place. Services at Trinity Lutheran Church, 504 E. Diggins St., Harvard, IL 60033. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Hospice and Parkinson’s Foundation.
