Janet Sue Conerty

Janet Conerty of Rockford IL, formerly Harvard IL and Woodstock IL, passed away peacefully at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford on March 29, 2022, at the age of 65.  Jan was born to Francis and Merilynn (Douglas) Conerty on August 5, 1956, in Harvard.  She attended St. Joseph School, Harvard High School (Class of 1974), and McHenry Community College.  She was later employed by McHenry Community College Payroll Department from where she retired after 37 years.

Jan had many special interests. She was active on the local bowling league for many years and she dedicated her time to dog rescues.  But her favorite times were spent traveling with her MCC co-workers and friends.  Some of her favorite trips were to Africa, Alaska, Australia, Peru, the western United States, and Michigan.

Janet is survived by siblings Sharon Madsen (Kenneth) Schenk of Huntley IL, Sharlene (Robert) Carroll of Michigan Center MI, Patrick (Lori) Conerty of New Berlin WI, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

Janet was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Frank and Anna Conerty, maternal grandparents Leslie and Sylvia Douglas, parents Francis and Merilynn Conerty, brother Stephen Conerty, brother-in-law Gerald Madsen, in addition to aunts, uncles, and cousins.

There will be a graveside service on Friday, April 29 at St. Joseph Cemetery in Harvard at 11:00 a.m. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bravehearts Therapeutic Riding and Educational Therapy Program, Poplar Grove, IL and Helping Paws in Woodstock.
