Harry "Lars" L. Nebergall

Lars Nebergall, 59, of Harvard passed away unexpectedly July 9th, 2021. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 17th in Harvard at the Starline from 1-5 pm.

Lars was born January 19th, 1962 in Crystal Lake and was preceded in death by his parents Bette (Freiny) Nebergall and Harry Nebergall and his siblings Erik Nebergall and Diana (Nebergall) Brooks.  He grew up in Crystal Lake enjoying countless adventures and acts of mischief with his siblings.  He worked as an Industrial Mechanic for over 35 years. 

He is survived by his sister Janet (Bob) Kelley, his brother Leif Nebergall, and his former wife of 21 years Tina Nebergall.  Together they raised 4 children, Bjorn (Keeli) Nebergall, Lexie (Andy) Berglund, Diana Nebergall (Seth Wilhoit), Chelsea (Joe)Beatty. They were also blessed with wonderful grandchildren: Maia, Colin, Charlotte, Noah, Everly, Caleb, Elijah, and a soon to arrive granddaughter. 

In addition to being a devoted father, Lars loved racing Motocross.  Saturdays started with him blaring Roy Buchanan songs while making breakfast for his family before heading out to build new obstacles to ride with friends on his home racetrack.  He also enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, and helping others.  Lars’ greatest joys and accomplishments in life came from his children and his grandchildren.

Lars was a true individual who was always unapologetically Lars. He took great joy in embarrassing his children publicly, whether that was starting a food fight in a restaurant or walking them to the school bus in his bathrobe. He taught them to always be true to themselves and never take themselves too seriously. His legacy and one-liners will live on with them always. "Checking in, and checking out."
