Harriet J Stoxen

Harriet Jean Stoxen, 96, of Harvard, IL, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2024.

Harriet was born on August 12, 1927, in Whitewater, WI, the daughter of Fred and Helen (Rice) Wunderlich. She graduated from Darien High School, class of 1945. Harriet married Donald L. Stoxen on October 6, 1945, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Harvard, IL. She was a devoted farm wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Harriet travelled the world with her beloved husband, visiting Australia, New Zealand, Europe, China, and Alaska. Harriet enjoyed gardening and socializing. Family was the most important thing to Harriet, and she loved spending time with her loved ones more than anything else. She was a long-time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Harvard.

Harriet is survived by her children Richard “Dick” (Lynda) Stoxen of Harvard, IL and Gloria Pankonin of Lake Geneva, WI; grandchildren Lori (Rich) Gajdzik, Kristi (Jack) Crisham, Ann Hall, Erica (Dwayne) Faria, Isaac (Tamara) Pankonin, Christina (Christopher) Clancy; great-grandchildren Richard and Andrew Gajdzik, Katherine and Claire Crisham, Kayla (Kyle) Breen, Oliver and Charlie Hall, Tim, Kenny, and John Pankonin, Henry and Phoebe Faria, Mairin and Sean Clancy; as well as her sister-in-law Frances Herrmann.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald, and siblings Howard, Helen, and Harold.

Private family services will be held with interment to follow at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Harvard, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Harriet’s honor to the Harvard Food Pantry, 6817 Harvard Hills Rd., Harvard, IL 60033.
