George "Wally" Bruce Doty

      The family of George "Wally" Bruce Doty is saddened to announce his passing the morning of October 27th, 2020 in Dallas, TX at the age of 79 from complications of Parkinson's Disease.

       Born August 11. 1941 in Freeport, IL to George W. and Genevieve Doty. Bruce lived many years in Capron, IL where he graduated from North Boone High School, met and married the love of his life, Phyllis (Conley) in 1962 and started his family.

       A dedicated provider, Bruce's career path in technology took him from Sundstrand Corporation in Rockford, IL to Ames, IA. During his time in Ames, he also worked in real estate before moving to Carollton, TX in the mid-1980s. Once in Texas, Bruce was employed with Xerox up until his retirement. 

       Bruce loved his family and cherished his time with them whether it was simply watching Judge Judy and walking 3 miles a day with his wife and beloved Augie dog, to fixing up the numerous lake-houses they had over the years. Bruce loved boating, classic cars and camping with the square dance club. Wally was serious about his dancing! He enjoyed reminiscing and sharing stories of his youth with his siblings and family, laughing until he cried. The holidays and time at the lake with his family and grandchildren were some of the best memories ever made.

       Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Phyllis Doty; sister Carole (Richard) Gasparini; sister-in-law Evelyn Doty; sons Mike (Amy), Tim (Lara), Robert (Heather) Doty; grandchildren Ryan, Shea, Kelli, Jessie, Emma, and Jackson Doty, as well as numerous wonderful nieces and nephews.

       Bruce was preceded in death by parents, George W. and Genevive; brother Gerald Doty; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Bev and Ralph Hursh. 

       Graveside service will be at 11:00AM on Saturday, May 22 at Dunham-Chemung Cemetery, 5931 Sinderson St., Harvard, IL 60033.
