George Andrew Obituary

George R. Andrew, age 73, a lifelong licensed plumber, passed away on May 13, 2022 at his home in Hartland Illinois after an extended illness.

George was born in Harvard, Illinois, the son of Robert D. and Marinette (Thomas) Andrew on March 20, 1949.  He was one of eight children; sisters Mary (Bob) Peterson, Donna (John) Nelson, Carol (Del) Marden, Linda (Chris) Thomas, Karen (Gilbert) Whaples, brothers; Robert and Donald Andrew.  George attended Harvard High School, and enlisted in the Army following high school graduation, serving two terms in the U.S. Army and a year and a half in Japan.  He was a third-generation plumber, starting his career at George V. Andrew Plumbing, which was founded by his grandfather, and later he started his own business, Arco Industries.  He retired in 2014 as a licensed union plumber.

George married Bev (Walsh) Andrew in 2009 in Las Vegas.  During their years together they enjoyed buying an old farmhouse as a getaway home in Dutch Hollow, WI.  It became a weekend gathering place for family and friends.  They later purchased and RV and enjoyed traveling to Colorado, Texas, Missouri and New Mexico.  George loved life, working hard and “playing” hard.  He enjoyed antiquing, fishing, gardening, and rooting for the Chicago Bears.  He attended a ”roll call” at the Town Tap for coffee clutch most mornings.

Bev and George had a blended family of five children and eleven grandchildren, son, Neil Andrew, grandchildren Katelynn and Brianna, Aurora, CO, daughter, Sara (Dagan) Andrew, grandchildren Riley and Dylan, Foley, AL, and daughter Kate (Kotaska) Andrew, grandchildren, Abby and Jack, Denver, CO. stepson, Jason (Dianna) Koltz, grandsons, Austin and Emmett, Austin, TX, stepdaughter Amy (Tim) Henson, grandchildren, Makayla, Wyatt and Taylor, Rockton, IL.

He is survived by his wife Bev Andrew, three sisters, Karen (Gilbert) Whaples, Harvard, IL, Carol (Del) Marden, Harvard, IL, Linda (Chris) Thomas, Monroeville, AL, and ex-wife Barbara (Durkee) Schepers, Englewood, CO.

He was preceded in death by his parents Bob and Marinette Andrew, sisters, Donna (John) Nelson and Mary (Bob) Peterson; brothers in law, Del Marden and John Nelson,

A Memorial gathering will be held Weds., May 25, 2022 from 11-1 PM, at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St., Harvard, IL, with a memorial service at 1 PM, burial immediately following at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Harvard, IL.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Woodstock VFW.
