Gayle Zena Laursen

Gayle Zena Laursen, 93, of Venice, FL, formerly of McHenry, IL, passed away Friday, December 19, 2025. Born July 29, 1932, in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late Chester A. and Zena A. Thoresen.
Gayle was united in marriage to Robert Laursen, with whom she raised four children. She worked at McHenry Hospital/NIMC for 35 years. She enjoyed playing cards, shopping, camping, and spending time with family, and was also a very talented artist.
She is survived by her children, James Laursen of McHenry, IL, Jack Laursen of Cocoa, FL, Pamala (Kevin) Schultz of Harvard, IL, and Patti (Skip) Weber of South Charleston, WV; grandchildren, Christa, Julia, Yamiko, Travis, and Sirus; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Karen (Leighton) Quinn of Venice, FL, and dear friend Ethel Krantz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and granddaughter, Zena.
A memorial service will be held in Venice, FL, at a later date.
