Elwyn G Jones

Elwyn G. Jones of Capron, IL passed away November 30, 2018, at OSF Medical Center in Rockford.

He was born April 24, 1942, in Harvard, IL to Perry and Irene (Beavis) Jones. He married Nancy Kennedy in 1963. He was in the Army National Guard and on the volunteer Fire department in Harvard.  For the majority of his life, Elwyn resided in Harvard and worked at the family business, Jones Packing Company. In 1992, he made a career change and became a corrections officer in McHenry County. He retired from that position after 20 years of service.

Elwyn is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy; daughter Tracy Schaller (Rick); son Mike (Michelle); his grandchildren Alyssa Schaller and Michael and Bailey Jones; brothers Perry Jones (Cindy) and Ed Jones (Pamela); sister-in-law Tina Jones, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Beatrice Wakeley, brother-in-law Ken Wakeley, brother Donald Jones and infant brother Elwood Jones.

A celebration of life will be held from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St. Harvard, IL 60033.
