Douglas Winkelman, 60, of Harvard, passed away surrounded by his family, Tues., Jan. 18 at Northwestern Huntley Hospital.
Doug was born September 15, 1961 to Donald and Betty (Ferner) Winkelman in Elgin, IL. He graduated from Woodstock High School in 1979. After high school he worked as a welder at Knaack Manufacturing for 30 plus years. Doug married Kimberley Anne Bell on May 23, 1981 in Woodstock and last celebrated 40 years together.
Doug enjoyed spending time with his son Drew and was “Mr. Tinker” working on projects in the garage. He also loved snowmobiling, was the former President of the Harvard Snow Gophers, and a member of the Sharon Drift Skippers. In the summertime, Doug enjoyed taking Kim to the river to ride the watercrafts.
Doug is survived by his wife Kim, son Drew, three sisters Judy (Daryl) Wells, Linda (Bob) Brown, Diane (Ralph) Rounds, nieces & nephews, and several close friends, including Jeff and Dale.
He is preceded in death by his parents Donald and Betty Winkelman.
The family will be having a celebration of life at a later date.
