Dolores Hobbs Obituary

Dolores Elizabeth Pagles Hobbs, 94, of Harvard, died on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at the Mercy Harvard Center.  She was born on November 11, 1927 to James and Sarah Ann (Cully) Patterson in Chicago.   She married Orville Pagles, on October 22, 1949, where they operated the family farm until Orville’s passing on October 3, 1963.  God blessed her with another loving spouse, James Hobbs.  They were married on September 19, 1968. 

Dolores grew up in a musical family, playing the violin and piano.  She enjoyed playing violin duets with her older brother, Melville, and she accompanied her twin brothers, Norman and Norbert, as they sang their Irish tunes.   

Dolores was an amazing seamstress, winning many awards for her exceptional talents in sewing.  Her highest honor was achieved in 1962, winning the Best in All Classes at the National Grange Sewing Contest in New York City. 

Dolores was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, singing in the church choir for many years.   She was a member of WELCA and Hannah Circle, and held treasured memories of Trinity’s Loyals.   She served on the Harvard Milk Day Prince and Princess Contest; she was a member of the Harvard Women of the Moose and served as an election judge for Dunham Township for many years.   She worked for the Shopper’s Service in Harvard, retiring in 1991.   

Surviving are a daughter, Pamela (Kelly) Camp, a son, James (Linda) Pagles, 4 grandchildren, David (Nikki Larsen) Camp, Brian (Jennifer) Camp, Jonathan (Lilly) Pagles and Joshua Pagles and 4 great-grandchildren, Drew and Kendall Camp, Cristian and Zoey Pagles, a brother, Norman Patterson of Frankfort, IL, sister-in-laws, Hannah Brady of Rockford and Charlene Patterson of Las Vegas and many nieces and nephews.  She was blessed to have 3 step-children, Susan (John) Schwartzbauer, Jimmy Hobbs of California and Michelle (Dan) Hildenbrand of Champaign, IL, family members in Northern Ireland and Ireland. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Sarah Ann Patterson, her spouses, Orville Pagles, James Hobbs, brothers, Melville and Norbert Patterson, Grandson Tyler Pagles, sister and brother-in-laws, Lucille Patterson, Shirley Patterson, Gertrude and Henry Sward, Jeannette and Maynard McCullough, Ruth and Howard Walker

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to Trinity Lutheran Church.

Visitation will be at 11am-1:30pm with services to follow, on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 504 E. Diggins St., Harvard, IL with Pastor Elizabeth Martin officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Harvard.
