Derek Lee Smith

Derek Lee Smith, 42 years old, passed away on July 21, 2020.

Derek was born on March 20, 1978, and is the cherished son of Michael and Robin Smith.
He is the beloved brother to Rebecca Smith, a very proud uncle of Mariah Smith, and an absolutely proud father to Melody, DJ, and Scarlett Lee Smith.

Derek had a gift of understanding and caring for people. He was an organ donor and because of this, he was able to save other lives. Derek loved to fish, watch sports, and spend time with his children.

To celebrate Derek's life we ask that you all wear white and bright colors. Derek was born on the first day of spring, and we want to infuse happiness and positivity into this time of sorrow for us all. His memorial gathering will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2020, at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St. Harvard, IL 60033. Memorial services will follow at 7 p.m.
