Delfo Fuentes Hernandez, 87, of Harvard, IL, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024.
Delfo was born on April 23, 1937, in Mexico the son of Jesus Fuentes and Esther Hernandez. He was married to Margarita Miranda until she passed away in 2007.
Delfo was an extremely hardworking man. Delfo worked at Twin Garden Farms from the 1970s until the 1990s. He then started working at Steven Weber Products where he spent 20+ years. Delfo retired in 1998, but he kept working until he was 82. Delfo was very sociable and enjoyed being with people. He was always worried about his two daughters equally. Delfo was a very kind, loyal, and loving father. Delfo liked to watch TV, especially telenovelas. He loved mangos, carne asada, vanilla pudding, vanilla ice cream, carrot cake, and vanilla wafers. Delfo faced a lot of heath challenges and underwent many surgeries, but always pulled through. Family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Esperanza and Miko for all their help and special care for him and to Margarita for staying with him 24/7 when he would be in the hospital. Delfo is now reunited with his beloved wife and will be loved and missed until we see him again.
Survivors include his two daughters Margarita (Enrique) Rojas and Esperanza (Miguel) Alvarez; grandchildren Xavier “Chito” (Vanessa Castillo) Jimenez, Jiovany “Jio” Jimenez, Miguel “Miko” Alvarez, Ulises Jimenez, Gianna “GiGi” Alvarez, Genesis Rojas, and Ashley Alvarez; and his great-grandson Armani Jimenez.
He was preceded in death by his wife Margarita Fuentes Miranda and his siblings Jesus (Antonia) Fuentes Hernandez, Angelica Fuentes Hernandez, Leopoldo “Polo” Fuentes Hernandez, Juana Fuentes Hernandez, and Jesufredo Fuentes Hernandez.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 PM on Monday, June 10, 2024, at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St., Harvard, IL 60033. Mass will be at 11 AM on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 206 E. Front St., Harvard, IL 60033. Interment to immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
