Debra J. Dettmer

Debra Jean Dettmer, age 70, died Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at her home in Harvard, IL.

Born August 10, 1952, in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, to George and Edna (Faivre) Borchers.  Debbie graduated from Lincoln High School Class of 1970. She worked as a stenographer for Preway Incorporated until 1979. Debbie married Richard Dettmer on September 21, 1974 in Nekoosa, WI. They had two children, and Debbie took some time off to raise them, before returning to the workforce in 1992. She was a Department Manager at Walmart for 18 years before her retirement.

Debbie was a loving and dedicated wife and mother. She was always supportive of her two children and was a safe haven for many of her children's friends growing up. The Dettmer household was always full of friends and neighbors because of Debbie and her welcoming heart and sense of humor. She had a strong love of animals and had many cats throughout her life. She was known to take in any stray needing a home and fed many types of animals who ventured into her backyard. She enjoyed playing Yahtzee every Saturday with her husband Rick, sitting outside next to their pond, gardening, and going to casinos. She was a die-hard Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed taking trips with Rick to watch the leaves change every autumn.

She is survived by her spouse Richard Dettmer, children David (Bri) Dettmer of  Roscoe, IL, Cindy Elsenheimer of Fort Worth, TX, grandchildren Rayne, Caden, Kimberly, Carson, Magnolia, in-laws Tom (Patti) Vickers,  brother-in-law Greg Sorenson, and several nieces and nephews.

Debbie was preceded in death by parents George and Edna Borchers, siblings Dick (Betty), Ted (Barb), Ken (Audrey) Hoekstra, Georgianna (Emery) Finup, brother-in-law Brent Vickers, sister-in-law Linda (Dettmer) Sorenson, and parents-in-law John and Rose Marie Vickers.
