David W. Lester

David Willard Lester, 80, of Harvard, IL passed away April 12, 2023 surrounded with love.

He was born January 10, 1943, in Harvard, IL, son of Willard and Dorothy (Pennington) Lester. In 1961, David graduated from Harvard High School. He served in the National Guard.

David was a very hard and dedicated worker all his life. He worked at Woodstock Die Casting and the Woodstock McHenry County Courthouse. He was very proud of his custodial position at the First United Methodist Church of Harvard from 1958 to 1997. Then he was custodian of the First Presbyterian Church of Harvard until his retirement in 2011.

He was a Harvard Alderman for two terms. He was a very successful General Chairman for the 1977 Harvard Milk Day Parade and had organized 26 bands to perform in that parade!

David will be deeply missed by his family, which he completely devoted himself to; his sister Evelyn (Lester) McFarlin, his sister Linda “Stacey” (Marty) Lewis, his brother Rick (Jeanine) Lester, his sister-in-law Brenda Lester and her daughter Lisa, and his best friend Travis Lawrence, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

David is predeceased by his parents Willard and Dorothy, nephew Seth Clayton Bennett, his brother Larry Leroy Lester, and his twin brother Danny Wilton Lester.

A celebration of life will be at a later date with his family. Pastor Charles Waggoner will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
