Cynthia Mary Schultz, age 93 of Harvard died Thursday, November 9th, 2023, at Shepherd Premier Senior Living in Harvard.
She was born November 4, 1930, in Madison, WI to Marvin and Anna Hinrichs. She graduated from Madison East High School and attended Carthage College where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1953. On June 14, 1953, she married Neil C. Schultz of Harvard, IL in Waterloo, WI.
Most of her professional career was teaching, including Richmond, IL – Marysville, CA – Harvard, IL, and Alden Hebron where she taught Home Economics. She also was the owner/operator of the Village Peddler where she continued to teach quilting and crafting classes. She traveled across the country to quilt shows and presented seminars about historical quilts. She also was a founding member and president of the Harvard Village Quilters.
Cindy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvard where she taught Sunday School and adult education classes. She was involved in several church activities and programs.
Her life was centered on her family – not only with her children, but her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, watching and supporting them as they participated in athletic, musical, or church events. She was a devoted Harvard Hornets fan.
Survivors include her sister Martha (Ken) Gorsky, two children, Deborah (John) Hollingsworth and Neil T. (Marla) Schultz, both of Harvard; and four grandchildren, David (Kara) Schultz, Tyler (Samantha) Schultz, Adam (Tegan) Schultz and Emily Hollingsworth. She also was blessed with 7 great-grandchildren: Aiden, Madeline, Gavin, Mason, Elias, Leopold, and Olivia. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Gary, a sister Lucy, another brother Philip, and her husband Neil.
A visitation will take place on Thursday, November 16 from 10 AM to 12 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvard with a service to follow.
