Clarence Henry Wilkening (95) passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, at the Mercy Harvard Care Center in Harvard, IL.
Born on February 8, 1930, in Schaumburg, IL, Clarence graduated from Palatine High School in 1948. He Married the late Ruth Clausing on February 10th, 1951, and together they raised their family in Harvard. Clarence married Leona (Fleming) on July 2, 1983, and they made their home in Marengo. They recently celebrated 42 years of marriage.
Clarence was a dedicated dairy farmer who embraced the demanding lifestyle of early mornings and long days. He took pride in caring for his herd and land, believing the farm was not just his livelihood, but the heart of his home. His hands-on work instilled discipline, humility, and responsibility.
He had a passion for woodworking and was especially known for the beautiful places he crafted by hand. Clarence generously shared his creations with family, friends, and his community-offering his work as gifts made with love and care.
Clarence also enjoyed square dancing and traveling on Golden Agers bus trips. His big smile and witty sense of humor made family, friends, and even strangers feel as though they had known him for years. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Harvard Moose Lodge, and the McHenry County Farm Bureau.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Leona Wilkening, Sons Allen (Lois) Wilkening, Donald Wilkening. Dennis (Laurie) Wilkening: stepdaughter Linda (Doug) Bouback; stepdaughter-in-law Judy Fleming; brother Lawrence Wilkening, and many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Wilkening; his brother, Ralph Wilkening: his stepson, Doug Fleming; and his parents, Henry and Esther Wilkening.
There will be a visitation from 10 AM until the 12 Noon funeral service Monday, July 14, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 504 E. Diggins St., Harvard, IL 60033. Pastor Scott Stolberg will officiate the service. Interment will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Clarence's life.
