Christine "Chris" Kay (McFarlin) Torrey

Christine "Chris" Kay (McFarlin) Torrey, 64, of Wonder Lake, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Northwestern Medicine McHenry, after a brief and unexpected illness.

Chris was born on November 4, 1960, to Ronald and Evelyn (Lester) McFarlin in Harvard, IL.  She was baptized and confirmed at the First United Methodist Church in Harvard.  She married Daniel Torrey on July 17, 1999, in Capron, IL. 

Chris was known for having a big heart.  She was a selfless person and was the first to offer help to her loved ones and many friends she had made throughout her life. She was a cat lover and enjoyed thrifting and doing word search puzzles. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family. She leaves behind 3 granddaughters who were the light of her life. She yearned for the mountains and the golden fields of Montana, where she would visit with her dad before he left this Earth.

Chris is survived by her husband Daniel W. Torrey of Wonder Lake, IL, children Erin (Michael) Adams of Harvard, IL, and Stephanie (Jio Lopez) Torrey of Harvard, grandchildren Freya, Kara, and Sadie, who were her pride and joy, siblings Ronald McFarlin Jr. of Henderson, NV, Marilyn (Allen) Logsdon of Harvard, Donna McFarlin of Harvard, and Darrell (Becky) McFarlin of Poplar Grove.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ronald and Evelyn McFarlin, uncles Larry Lester, Danny Lester, and David Lester, and Cousin Seth Bennett.

A celebration of life will be held at the Stratford Banquet Hall on November 8th, 2025 from 10 am to 12 pm with service by pastor Claire to follow.
