Charlene Leyrer

Charlene Leyrer, 67, of Harvard, died surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, November 10, 2019, at UW Hospital- Madison, WI.

She was born on February 12, 1952, in Chicago, IL, and was the daughter of Robert and Drucilla (Ritchie) Legel. Charlene worked for Filtertek in Hebron, IL until retirement. She enjoyed reading magazines, gardening, and animals. Her passion was spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren.

Charlene married the love of her life Robert H. Leyrer Jr., on October 16, 1971, in Crystal Lake, IL.

Survivors include her husband Bob; children Jamison Leyrer, Anna Marie Leyrer (Bill Westerberg); and Beth Ann (Armando) Cazares; four grandchildren Amanda, Naomi, Alexi, and Ariani; her mother Drucilla; and one sister Terry Legel; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Char’s family would like to thank the staff at the University of Wisconsin-Madison for the great care, they provided to her over the last year and a half.

A memorial gathering will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday, November 18, 2019, with a memorial service to follow at 7 p.m. at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St. Harvard, IL 60033.
