Carolyn M. (Reich) Plachy

Carolyn M. Plachy, 77, passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Carolyn was born May 14, 1944, to William H. and Olga (Odaff) Reich in Chicago, IL.  She married William F. Plachy Sr. on Nov. 14, 1995, in Janesville, WI.

She owned and operated her own jewelry store, and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Harvard.  When she was able, Carolyn loved to ice skate.  Also, she enjoyed embroidering, gardening, and watching her birds.  Carolyn loved spending time with her family and left a message for them that said, “All of you are my happiness.”

Survivors include her husband William F. Plachy Sr. of Harvard, children Tracy (Ed) Mortensen of Huntley and Eric (Sandra) Peterson of Tonawanda, New York, grandchildren Ashley and Anthony (Danielle) Ebert, and Matthew Mortensen, Kayla, Joe, and Brad Peterson, and Cy, Shannon, and Liam Doane, great-grandchildren Nicky, Keira, Jameson, and Aislynn Lively, and sister Janice Reich of Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Robert and William Reich.

A memorial gathering will be from 12-1 p.m. on Monday, July 19, 2021, at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St, Harvard, IL 60033. Memorial services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Steve Sward officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Kidney Fund.
