Carl Radebaugh, 86, died peacefully in his sleep on January 24th, 2024.
Carl was born on August 8, 1937 in Eureka, Illinois (and he was very proud of the fact that he shared a birthday with Dustin Hoffman). He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He also earned a Master of Arts degree from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois.
Carl married Sandra Kay Bernhardy in 1959 in Benson, Illinois. They lived in El Paso, Illinois where Carl taught 7th and 8th grade until they moved to Harvard, Illinois in 1965. He was the guidance counselor at Harvard Junior High from 1965-1967. He worked from 1967-1993 for the Special Education District of McHenry County in Woodstock, Illinois. He was active in Jaycees, Lion’s Club, Enterprise Club, and served on the Board of Directors of Harvard Savings Bank. He also served two terms on the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church council. He most enjoyed spending time with family and friends (especially on his porch), golfing, traveling, telling jokes, and buying cars (not necessarily in that order).
Carl is survived by his wife, Sandra, his children Penny (Jim) Kraft of Richmond, IL, Carla (John) Young of Mesquite, NV, his grandchildren Ryan (Nicole) Greenlee, Jenna (Tim) Hanson, Sarah (Jeffery) Julius, Amanda Kraft (fiancé Brogan Coon), Ally (Andrew) Nobleza, Jessi (Carlos) Munoz and great-grandchildren, Izzy, Andrew, Penny, Brianna and Antonio. He is also survived by a sister, Virginia Bailey, sister Ann Grampp, and brother Jack (Jane) Radebaugh, brother-in-law Marvin (Wanda) Bernhardy, sister-in-law, Judy Bernhardy and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Radebaugh, his mother, Dorothy Radebaugh, his step-mother, Dorothy Radebaugh, his daughter, Kendra Kay Radebaugh and his grandson Matthew Carl Greenlee.
