Bonnie Mae Russ, 81, of Beavercreek, OH, (formerly of Harvard and Kingston, IL) died on January 18th, 2026 at Soin Medical Hospital in Beavercreek, OH surrounded by loved ones. Bonnie was born on May 15, 1944 in Harvard, IL to Floyd & Viola (Voss) Alt. She graduated from Harvard High School. She worked several jobs over her lifetime that included factory work at Admiral and Miniature Precision Components and later in life as a manager for several different gas stations.
Bonnie’s hobbies included playing cards and games with family members and bingo at the Assisted Living Facility in Ohio. She also loved an occasional casino trip. While living in Harvard, she was very involved in the Moose Lodge in Harvard. She served in all the officer’s positions and earned College of Regent and Star Recorder Degree, during her tenure at the Moose. Before she moved to Ohio in summer of 2025, she was very involved with Golden Agers of the Moose and enjoyed her time with her friends from the Moose. While living in Kingston, IL she enjoyed her monthly coffee clutch gatherings and providing Saturday morning breakfast at the Kingston Friendship Center. Most of all, Bonnie loved spending time with her family and enjoyed living with her Aunt Margaret Cutts (until her passing) and then with her grandson, Tyler Russ until her move to Ohio.
Bonnie is survived by her children, Donald (Ruthie) Russ and Michael (Rebecca) Russ; her grandchildren, Erika Russ, Nathan (Emily) Russ, Emily Russ, and Tyler Russ; great grandchildren, Edward Russ and Violet Russ; her cousins Ron Cutts and Bill (Nancy) Cutts; sister-in-law Valerie Alt, special family member Duane Collins and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and great grandnieces and grandnephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, Floyd & Viola (Voss) Alt; stepmother, Patricia (Peterson) Alt; sisters, Carol (Dave) Lieb, Linda Burnett and brother Gary Alt.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 10 AM until 12 PM. A short funeral service will be at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St., Harvard, IL 60033 following the visitation. Interment at Mt. Auburn Cemetery to follow immediately.
