Betty I. Cross

Betty I. Cross, 84, a lifelong Harvard resident, passed away peacefully at her home on March 26, 2024. Betty was born on June 22, 1939, in Harvard IL, the daughter of Harold and Grace (Twell) Cross.

Betty babysat for quite a few years and spent several years working at Mechtronics and in McHenry for Allied Die Casting, Inc. making trophies.

Betty appreciated the simple things in life, like spending time with her family and a good meal. She loved animals and had many special pets throughout her life. Betty enjoyed baking and will be remembered for all the apple and pecan pies she prepared for family and friends. Betty had a collection of over 200 cookbooks! She liked to garden and enjoyed watching TV.

Betty is survived by her sisters Nancy (Craig) Smith of Harvard, IL and Mary (Bill) Sigler of Clay, KY; nephews Jeffrey (Trista) Smith of Darien, WI and Bradley Sigler of Clay, KY; nieces Katherine (Danny) Pereda of Schaumburg, IL, Sarah (Mark) Knapp of Crystal Lake, IL, and Brandi (Pat) Eagles of Evansville, IN; as well as 5 great-nephews and 2 great-nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Harold (Lydia) Cross.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, from 10 AM until the 12 PM funeral service at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St., Harvard, IL 60033. Interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Sharon, WI.
